Oluf’s Sister Ingeborg

Ingeborg was born February 17, 1858 to Olaf Olsson and Walberg Andersdatter. (Ostmark Parish, Varmland county, Sweden)  She is oldest child.  Anders Gustaf 1861,  Olaf 1863,  John Edward 1869,  Edla 1873.

Lars Michelsson marries Ingeborg on December 26, 1877.   Children born: Johan Emil 1878, Olaf Gustaf 1880, Axel Ludvig 1883 Hanna Emilia 1886, Henning Walfred 1889,  Ester 1896,  Freda 1899,  Gunnar 1902.

Svend and Betsey Svendson

It reads: Oluf O. Hult Crow Lake, Stearns Co. Minnesota and Oline Swenson, Crow Lake Stearns Co. Minnesota were united in Holy Matrimony according to the ordinance of God and the laws of the state of Minnesota at residence of Sven Svenson on the 27th day of March in the year of OUR LORD one thousand eight hundred and ninety three.  Henry Swenson and John Swenson and Nils Giere Norw[egian] Luth[eran] Pastor.  BUT PHOTO IS THAT OF OLINE’S PARENTS, SVEND AND BETSEY SVENDSON.  ( Records acquired from Russell Holt show this photo and their names).

Olaf and Oline Holt

Oline is the daughter of Svend and Betsey Svendson

Olaf Alfred Olafson [Hult-Holt]  and Olena-Oline Swenson.

Olaf came to America in May, 1888 from Ostmark, Sweden, near a small hamlet named Hult, where he may have lived.  He changed his last name from Olafson or Olesson, to Hult.

School teachers Anglicized his children’s name to Holt.  He had been a lumberman and hunted in Lapland.  When he first came to America he worked in St. Paul for James J. Hill driving street cars pulled by donkeys.  From there he went to the Belgrade and Brooten area because he had a distant relative there, Sven Anderson.  Anderson’s granddaughter, Stina, married Oscar Holt.  In the Brooten area, Olaf worked at farming and married Oline Swenson. (Johnny and Richard) I have been on Ancestry.com working on my Grandpa Holt’s family tree.  It is mostly input no researching.  However, I received hints in regards to my input and I do check them out to see who else is building or researching the same family.  I contacted a cousin (Larry) of my Dad’s through Ancestry.com and we are now corresponding via email!  He has shared these photos with me!

Johnny and Irene.  In some of my collected family history items Grandpa Holt, Jack, was called Johnny.  I have never heard him called by Johnny.
